Porvoo Aviation Club brings together aviation enthusiasts in the Porvoo region. We offer our members active operations, joint events, and a fantastic atmosphere centered around the hobby of aviation.

The focus of our hobby activities is on a wide variety of flying scale models and aircraft. Within our club, you can get involved in:

MODEL AIRCRAFT AS A HOBBY
Model aviation is the most versatile discipline in aviation, suitable for all ages—from young people to more experienced aviation enthusiasts alike! The hobby offers a unique combination of the joy of flying, technology, and hands-on building and fine-tuning.
What Are Model Aircraft?
We use the term "model aircraft" as an umbrella term for all flying miniature aircraft involved in our activities. Today, the range of devices is remarkably broad:

Electric and combustion engine models: From small, quiet electric planes to large combustion-engine aircraft that mimic real airplanes.

Helicopters: Various radio-controlled helicopters for recreational and aerobatic flying.

Drones and multirotors: A rapidly developing category offering new possibilities for applications like aerial photography and FPV (First Person View) flying.
A model aircraft doesn't have to be built from scratch: specialty shops offer assembly kits for various skill levels as well as almost ready-to-fly packages, making it easier than ever to get started.

Membership Fees and Rules

Membership fee: Members are charged an annual membership fee as well as a field fee, the amounts of which are decided at the club's annual meeting. You can find the current fees and payment details on our website.

Shared rules: Club members commit to abiding by the association's rules and safety instructions to ensure flying remains enjoyable and safe for everyone.

Finnish Aeronautical Association: Porvoo Aviation Club is a member association of the Finnish Aeronautical Association (Suomen Ilmailuliitto ry).
SIL 16 display exam
In the Porvoo aviation club, you can complete the SIL 16 demonstration examinations. SIL 16 is an aviator's license, which enables a member of the association to have more versatile hobby activities when you want to practice outside of the flying locations and the implementation requires deviating from the restrictions of the open category. ADMINISTRATION
The association's mission is to provide its members with a great framework for their hobby and to promote aviation activities regionally. The association's operations are guided by its bylaws, and major decisions are made by the membership at the annual meeting in February.
Decision-Making and Positions of Trust

Elections and term of office: Positions of trust are filled by electing members from within the association during elections held every two years.

Board composition: The Board consists of the Chairperson and three members.

Other positions of trust: Deputy board members, performance auditors, secretary, treasurer, airfield manager, and webmaster/communications officer.

Compensation: All positions of trust are strictly voluntary, and no salary or separate compensation is paid for them.
